In 1858, the year Minnesota became a state, Baar Starkson arrived. As one of the first settlers in Olmsted County, he bought the land, and built the farm. We have a picture dated 1865 showing the completed house, looking much the same as it does today. The Starkson home became a welcoming place for new families moving to the area. Today, we continue that tradition by welcoming guests to visit, sit on the front porch, and relax.
The large brick farmhouse is filled with an ever-changing mix of gifts, furniture, home decor and art. Each season is greeted with a new look, from spring through Christmas. When you visit Garten Marketplatz, you'll find original farm buildings filled with:
